01 October 2018Last UK Boat For Sale!
Royalist, GBR 455 is for sale. Long time second owner Roger Dawe has decided to bring to a close his relationship with a remarkable and important Dragon. I also believe her to be the last P&T Dragon built at the yard. Here are the details.
‘Royalist’ is an impeccably built Pedersen & Thuesen wooden Dragon. She was first delivered to Simon Tait in 1970; he won the Edinburgh Cup in 1972 and was then selected to sail Royalist in the 1972 Olympic Games as the GBR Dragon representative. After competing at Kiel she was purchased by the current owner.
She has been professionally maintained and modernized, with a major refit in 2007 when the following was carried out: new teak decking, including new coach roof of Brazilian mahogany structure with teak roof; new bronze keel bolts and epoxy resin sheath to keel; new raised teak floor; new running rigging with Harken blocks throughout; stainless steel shroud stiffening rods; new mahogany rudder with stainless steel shaft and rudder tube with Oilite bronze bearings; new varnished laminated mahogany and ash tiller. She comes with the following equipment: Petticrow mast with cover and boom; Kuffer road trailer, virtually unused; manual and electric pumps; central spinnaker chute hatch and sock; Tacktick Race Master mast-mounted; 4 stainless steel winches to maintain her classic authenticity, though only the for’ard winches are used; hull has always been painted red which has protected the carvel laid mahogany which is in excellent condition; stainless steel boom crutch, plus the mahogany original; 2 mahogany paddles to underside of deck; 2 mahogany helms drawers to rear of cockpit; 2 mahogany crew seats – not currently fitted; miscellaneous sails, some hardly used; anchor and warp; new webbing slings.
Royalist is currently at The Medway Yacht Club, Kent and offers are invited around £22,500. Please contact Roger Dawe on +44(0)1892 870228 or at email@example.com for additional photos, information and a flawless recent surveyors report.
